Market overview: Sainsbury surge boosts Footsie

1630: The FTSE 100 closed well in the blue, helped by a late surge from the supermarket J Sainsbury on takeover speculation.
A trader told Reuters of rumours of a 500p a share offer for the group. B&Q owner Kingfisher and Marks and Spencer also advanced.
BT advanced after Goldman Sachs upgraded it to 'buy' from 'neutral'.
